For years I was stuck in self-sabotage. Smoking weed, watching porn, getting black-out wasted at every opportunity I could. Because of this, I struggled to keep my friends, build real connections, and ended up feeling extremely alone and terribly anxious. I also hated myself because I was very hard on myself. This would only lead me further down the spiral I was already allowing to drag me down even further.
The men's work found me first with a psychotherapist, who showed me the depth of relation two men could have when they communicated from experience, rather than projections and appearance. Then I made contact with eastern philosophy, which showed how to watch your body and watch your mind. This led me to men's circles in India, Germany, and online, a lot of which centred Jungian depth work including shadow work and embodiment practices. Honest brotherhood then found me, and with everything I learnt, I found a depth of connection and sense communities, all of which moved me so deeply and made my life so rich. The calling to share this work was clear and I knew what I needed to do. Each of my experiences also took me further down into the parts I'd been avoiding, and the things which summoned deep fear inside of me that I was overwhelmed by and did not know how to face, and gave me the tools to come back changed.
Horizons is the container I wish had existed when I started: coaching, circles, and depth work in one place. Not for men who have it figured out. For men who are ready to figure it out for real.
